Sylvia Dawavendewa

Sylvia (Havasupai, Tewa & Hopi) is an enrolled member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes and hails from Parker, Az. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Applied Sociology and spent several years working in various areas of human service. In the recent past, Sylvia was affiliated with the Arizona American Indian Tourism Association and as a facilitator for American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona.

Sylvia has been honored by the Salt Song Project for her contribution to the continuation of an ancient ceremony that various southwest tribes share. Recently she has had the opportunity to meet renowned Primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall to provide assistance for Native American Indian involvement in Goodall's Roots and Shoots program.
